Digital Skills class room poster
C324 is one of the spaces at UWL where the digital magic happens. This is why to represent room C324 I designed an apple desktop with rainbows and shapes coming out from it.
A room where creativity happens the poster representing it should be colorful but the brief said to produce a monochrome poster so I thought that by drawing shapes and represent creativity with motion instead of color would also be a good option.
This was a very time consuming drawing. But I loved it! I got lost on detail and I reckon I could have done a lot better but it might take me a whole day or two to get it right. It took me around 6 hours to produce this vector drawing. Being able to use layers cleverly was a key point. One of the things I had a bit of trouble was creating the grass, bushes and trees. I kept selecting, copying and reflecting it and it got to the point the file became to slow so I guess that should be a more efficient solution to create the illusion of flora in a Illustrator drawing.
Hi! My name is Kew!
This is the proof that my vector drawing skills have improved significantly. I'm definitely happy with my illustrator drawing. I had a bit of trouble working out the gradient direction but overall I achieved what I was aiming for. Had the idea of creating palette swatches from textures as it gives a more realistic look to the drawing. (even though I'm not sure I'm allowed to do that in vector drawing I still think it looks great.)
Symmetry
Another exercise. This time using alt+(drag) and the "Transform" options to produce a symmetrical design.
Reflect/Rotate in my opinion are the most basic tools in Illustrator but very useful ones. From drawing to create patterns it's a tool I constantly use.
Vector explorations
Tracing an object with the pen tool takes some time, specially if is something you not used to do. Getting the curved shapes right was where I found more difficulty but as I continued to trace I started to get the hang of it. I started to trace from the top left and you can see clearly how I gradually improved with the pen tool.
Cyber Space_the result.
And this is what happened!
I struggle with Photoshop more than any other Adobe CS software.
Didn't manage to produce exactly what I was aiming for but wasn't totally unhappy with the results, specially the planet's surface.
You can see some bits that needed editing but overall I think I managed to produce an original space scenery.
